Three Tables. Three Waste Streams. Endless Possibilities.
We were delighted to exhibit at Clerkenwell Design Week 2026, where we unveiled three new prototype furniture collections exploring the future of waste-led and circular furniture design.
Clerkenwell Design Week has become an important platform for new thinking in furniture, materials and circular design. For Spared, it was an opportunity to demonstrate how overlooked waste streams can be transformed into new materials and contemporary furniture.
Presented as part of our New Material Expressions collection, Daphne, Mira and Alba each began with a different waste stream and a simple question: What could this waste become?
From birch plywood sawdust generated through CNC machining, to residual mixed plastics and discarded chopping board waste, each table explored a different material, a different manufacturing process and a different design language.
Together, they represented an important step in our ongoing research into creating beautiful, lasting furniture made from waste.
One of the highlights of the week was the opportunity to speak with hundreds of architects, designers, manufacturers and visitors who stopped by our stand. The conversations were invaluable, giving us honest feedback, new ideas and a real insight into how people responded to each collection.
To make things a little more interactive, we also invited visitors to vote for their favourite table.
The result couldn’t have been much closer, but Mira narrowly took the public vote.
For us, the real success wasn’t which table came first. It was seeing people engage with the materials, ask questions about the waste behind each piece and discover that sustainability and great design can coexist
Although these collections are still prototypes, they mark the beginning of a much bigger journey. Over the coming months we’ll continue refining the designs, developing new materials and exploring future collaborations as the collections evolve.
A huge thank you to everyone who visited us, voted, asked questions and shared their thoughts. We left Clerkenwell inspired, energised and more excited than ever about what comes next.
